We hiked to Tom’s Canyon in the Deep Creek Mountains of western Utah on the weekend of 10 Sep 05. This was a nice BLM wilderness study area south of Wendover, NV. There was nobody else out that weekend, so we had the place to ourselves. It was a tough hike up Tom’s Canyon, with a 1500 foot elevation gain in a mile and a half. But I think we’ll have to get used to that kind of elevation gain out here. It was a pretty long drive from home, and the mountains were pretty small, so I don’t know how often we’ll come back here…but it was nice.
